A "style," huh?

Art style. Well, I think that some time after I began this account, I decided that I wanted to have a specific art style. I threw out the word "Monochrome," and said to myself, "Fine. I will make it black and white."
But it turns out, this isn't what I meant by this at all.
My style, in my eyes now, is monochromatic. But not exploring the depths of black and white; not sticking to just one palette of color; but my style is pencil and paper, as I've realized. Digital art is secondary to me for now, because I feel like my art will improve the most when I have a graphite pencil in my hand.
Of course, art is a hobby to me. I have doubts that I'll pursue it as a job, because I can tell that others do it better than me. Some people out there just have real talent, and I'm not serious enough about my work. My brother is, though. I guess that can be my bragging right. Not, "I'm a good artist," but "My brother is an amazing artist."
So yeah, sketches. I think I've been drawing since I learned my first word; I have stuff in my room that's incomprehensible stick figures with spikes all over the heads and illegible writing that I wouldn't even imagine are mine.
So I got some tips for you, too.

Here's what I've found out.

Mastering art is so much like leveling your character in a video game, that it's not even funny. Keeping your body healthy isn't like it, studying isn't like it, learning arithmetic isn't like it, and improving reading skills isn't like it, but mastering art is.

So let's go one with the analogy of your art being just like this Warrior character you're leveling in Disgaea. Here are some staple rules in this RPG:
1. Everyone starts at a low level. That includes you.
2. Every character has a preferred weapon, and you should find yours as soon as possible. There are Jacks of all Trades, but those guys are usually so prodigious that they can be good at everything without trying.
3. The more enemies you kill, the more EXP you will gain.
--- (I believe that my fast rate of improvement isn't because I have a lot of time in my hands (which I don't,) but because of how I use the time I got. I draw super fast. On the side here; I remember when I was taking a group design class down in Berkeley, and when I was drawing on my tablet real-time, my teacher behind me believed I was watching a speedpaint until he looked over my shoulder and saw my pen moving. I was drawing around 8-16x the average drawer's speed. So I can tackle more enemies in less time.)
4. Once you hit level 10, level 1 monsters won't give you much anymore. You have to fight harder, and harder, and harder enemies to continue leveling.
5. Disgaea has no level limit.
---Neither do you.

Highwind: If I live that long, why not?
Shania: So carefree...

Highwind: I wish I was faster. I wish I had better knives, I wish I had enough money so that I didn't have to be a thief. I wish for a lot of things. But there's no use complaining.

Highwind: Larnoiretta is such a great city. And bags of cash literally lie around!
Shania: Lieing around in wallets you steal.
Highwind: But the whirlpools in the middle of the ocean are always causing trouble, and are washing bad things ashore. I'm glad to be out of there right now.

Highwind: This continent is just too beautiful. I don't think I have one.
